Hatha Yoga for Adventurous Yoga Students @ 4:30-5:30 pm ~ 10 Class Session Jan 10-Mar 14
Are you familiar with the basic beginner's yoga poses and curious to explore slightly more challenging postures?
In this class, we'll experiment with intermediate level poses such as dancer pose, half moon pose, bow pose, camel pose, splits pose etc. If such poses pique your curiosity but intimidate you at the same time, then this IS the class for you!
This class is perfect if you are familiar with basic yoga poses, but you want to explore poses like half moon, dancer pose (pictured), full bow, Warrior 3 etc.). Note - we won't be doing any advanced arm balances, if you're nervous about that :)
We will build up to these peak poses in a structured, progressive way. Variations will always be given if you aren't yet ready for the peak pose.
First and foremost, this class is designed to be fun and foster curiosity! It is not necessarily about achieving any given pose, but rather wholeheartedly explore challenging poses without too much attachment to the outcome. In the process, this class will improve your strength, balance, and confidence.
Each class opens with breath work to relax the body and focus the mind. It may also contain short flowing sequences (moving from one pose to another with the flow of the breath). Classes close with savasana (reclined relaxation pose).
Dates: Jan 10, 17, 24, 31, Feb 7, 14, 21, 28, Mar 7, 14.
You are encouraged to bring your own props (yoga mat etc.) to class, but I will have props available. Yoga blocks and a strap are handy (though not entirely necessary).
